How do you find your Right Livelihood?
How do you find the Right Livelihood for you? Defining this, may go a bit beyond simply being in the right career. It may start to sound a bit philosophical. Fortunately, we don’t have to get that deep, discussing how Socrates or Plato would handle finding ones true calling in life. What we are looking for is a down to earth solution to finding a career where we not only possess the ability to do the job duties well, but also have the passion for doing it every day. We all want to earn money liking what we do for a living. I believe that those who are in their right livelihoods know themselves better than those who are not already in their ideal jobs. In other words, they seem to have that uncanny ability to visualize themselves and their talents, realistically. For example, they know if they are an artist, opposed to having the traits necessary for being a policeman. They don’t have to think about it much, and aren’t confused about where their career direction is going. They walk steady, straight to their ideal jobs, on their career paths. If you have the right way of looking at life, you will also understand a few things about how the world really works. The career path you are traveling on has to reflect who you really are, to be the correct path. If you don’t know what your dream career is, then all you have is your intention to find out what it could be. Maybe, you have the passion for finding your unique niche in life, but don’t know exactly where you belong. Your only focus is a "Passionate feeling" for finding your Dream Career. Where you truly belong, in terms of a career can be discovered through knowing the truth about your unique talents, skills, abilities, and personality. In other words, what kind of person do you know yourself to be? You are always the biggest expert about who you are. Don’t think about what type of individual you’d rather be; instead, it’s vitally important right now, to be truthful to yourself about what kind of person you are at this time in your life. Some examples… • Do you like to help others? • Are you mechanically inclined? • Are you Artistic? • Are you a natural born Leader? • Do you like research? • What do you like? It’s your life to live any way you want! Choose that job which you totally enjoy doing on a daily basis, and you won’t be sorry.
Discovering Your Right Livelihood
Career Tests and Personality Tests can help you get to know yourself better. They can tell you what kind of person you are, inventory job skills, abilities, and describe how you relate to others. You can use career and personality tests to learn more about your stronger points, and weaker traits you need to work on, change, or modify. I don’t think anyone is totally confused about what his right livelihood might be. We all have at least, a few ideas about what we’d like to do. Everyone is able to do something. For example, a babysitter has work skills he could transfer to a day care center. Even, if a student has not had a job before, there are classroom skills he has learned previous that could get him on the ground floor of his first place of employment. You begin, by building upon what you already have to offer an employer. In other words, you start right where you are, right now, with what you have. So, from this point on, resolve to simply be yourself. Some who seek their right livelihood, have more trouble than others Searching for and finding the Right Careers. You can eventually discover where it is you fit in a career. But, your answer may only come to you through the experience of working within your first couple jobs. This way, you will learn what job duties you like, and don’t. The alternative is doing nothing. So, instead of doing nothing, do something.
