Midlife Career Change AdviceMidlife Career Change may bring confusion. Some call this part of a Midlife Crisis. Now, all of a sudden middle age is here, and you are re-examining some, if not all of your work values. What career change do you choose? When in middle age, you may be thinking about searching for a new job, but don't know what else you could do for a living. If in doubt, you can take an Aptitude Test to see what second career you would be good at doing. Most tests will list career possibilities which will fit your aptitudes and personality style best.
Second Career, Midlife Career Change, and the Self Employment OptionIf you are a middle aged man or woman, that means you are aged between 40 to 60. You are also categorized as a Baby boomer, and within my age group. You could already be retired, and searching for your second career.
This may be the best time to review your Retirement Plans, and weigh if a Brand New Career Fits in Retirement, or not. Many are tired of doing the 9 to 5 routine, answering to a boss, and fighting traffic on the freeways. You can bypass all this through doing your own online business from home, or freelance work.
Sometimes, there are no big qualifications, or large financial investment for a Midlife Career Change when starting your own business. You can bypass the job interviews, and writing resumes. There is no interviewer judging your qualifications for the job. No one tells you when you have to get up in the morning and go to work, or what to do. You can take breaks anytime you want, take a vacation, or do your errands around town.
One drawback, is that there is no set, regular paycheck you get every week. If you have other sources of income like a 401k or pension, this will serve as your regular paycheck, and security blanket.
