IQ Tests will point out your Strengths and Weaknesses

IQ tests were created for testing ones intelligence. IQ is an abbreviation that means Intelligence Quotient. The intelligence test is an objective measuring stick for intelligence testing. Even though the word Intelligence is difficult to define, each IQ test has its own factors that it scores.

Career Aptitude Testing locates strengths and weaknesses within the individual. Once he knows, he can correct the specific weakness through education and training. Career Tests do not usually measure someone's general intelligence, but instead measure aptitude, interests, and personality traits.

Everyone has different abilities, so everyone will have a higher or lower IQ score. Some say that Intelligence testing is too narrow in its scope to be a general guideline of someone's actual general intelligence. There is so much more to a human than can be ascertained through a single Intelligence test. There is his aptitude, artistic abilities, mechanical abilities, and even emotional intelligence, etc. These traits are not measured in Intelligence tests.

The Stanford Binet® Intelligence Test was originally introduced by Alfred Binet in 1904. It is interesting to note that he intended the test to be used to identify students who needed extra study help in class.

* The original intent was not to create a testing instrument which would calculate lower intelligence, or reveal someone as being slower to learn, than another.

Besides the Stanford Binet, another popular Intelligence Test is the Raven Progressive Matrices Test®. This is a proven, nonverbal intelligence assessment for children and adults. It measures general intelligence in two ways. One, it measures someone's ability to think clearly and comprehend complex information, and also records the ability to remember and duplicate information. There are 3 different versions of the test for different ages and mental abilities.

The SAT test is similar to an Intelligence Test. It has been said that there is a strong connection between scores on the SAT and intelligence. In other words, the SAT will reflect the student’s overall general intelligence. The SAT® stands for Scholastic Aptitude Test, and is used by many colleges and universities. It is a standardized testing instrument. The SAT is owned by the College Board, and ETS administers the exam. The test takes about five hours to complete and currently costs around $50. The test has reading, writing, math, and other academic sections.
