Intelligence Tests
Intelligence Tests are usually standardized tests. These are Psychometric tests which measure something about you mentally or psychologically. IQ tests more commonly measure your mental abilities, such as how you prefer to acquire information and solve problems. Specifically, IQ Tests measure one's intelligence.
The Stanford Binet™ is a popular, time proven IQ Test. It was originally developed to measure a student's performance in the classroom, not particularly the IQ he was born with.
It is advised not to take the IQ scores to heart so as to feel superior or inferior. You really do not want to put a label on yourself, or on others. This can be counter productive. A superior attitude or an inferiority complex is not useful at all. What is constructive and positive, is to learn what your strong and weak points are through an IQ Test. This way, you can work on the qualities that are weakest through additional training and education. It may prove to be more valuable to pinpoint your stronger attributes and focus on them in terms of searching for the most compatible career choice.
IQ stands for Intelligence Quotient.
Hard Work and Perseverance can overcome many Obstacles
Anyone, through study and hard work can become what they want to be in life, if they have the aptitude and motivation. I am a prime example. I created this website without any prior experience or knowledge. Although, I have always had a fair grasp of the English language, and have improved my writing and language skills through practice.
I also acquired the skill of typing in junior high school. Little did I know then, how useful this skill would become, many decades later. Through time, I have developed my website and improved my writing abilities to the degree, that I have contributed original career related articles to numerous article submission websites. I am living proof one can learn a new career and succeed with average intelligence, through his own hard work.
When one creates intelligence tests, objectivity is a prime concern. Prejudice must be left out entirely.
Is intelligence innate or inherited? Is it created by nature or nurture? Hopefully, tests will not be used to judge an entire group of people as being more intelligent than another.
An IQ test like the Stanford Binet is a true attempt at measuring what one is capable of. On the other hand, the SAT test (Scholastic Achievement Test) measures ability or aptitude for further study through higher education, and does not measure IQ.
