How to Discover your Ideal Career regardless of age

Is there such a thing as an Ideal Career for everyone? Good question. I personally think everybody has a unique talent, and his own special place in the workforce. But to find it, this almost always takes some very serious soul searching to find a career we would not only be happy in, but would last us a lifetime. Not only do you have to know what you want to do for a living, you need to know why you want to do it in the first place.

The best clues to what your ideal career choice may be are usually located within your special interests, your own personality, and those things you are passionate about. Taking a Career Interest Inventory in addition to a Career Personality Test or even Teen Quizzes, can help guide your career direction through taking an inventory of your working temperament, how you prefer to relate to others on the job, and taking note of those duties you prefer doing the most. Often, after the test, you will receive a printable list of potentially desirable career choices.

Essential Career Finder Questions…

• What things do you find yourself reading about in a book or magazine, above all else?

• What are your hobbies and special interests?

• What things do you like to do in your off time?

• What aptitudes do you have that you enjoy using the most?

• What things do you love doing, which you are passionate about?

Answers to the above questions will be strong clues which should not be taken lightly, nor forgotten. Ones career goals are likely to change over time, so what you are interested in at age twenty may not interest you at age forty. A persons interests can change; even his personality can change, over time.

As there are no guarantees in life, one may also change his mind about a career he chose many years ago, that he believed was his ideal career. It is completely normal for someone to change careers three to five times over the entire span of his working years. It is also well known that over half of all those presently working do not like what they are doing for a living. We can get ourselves unstuck, by changing our career direction. From time to time, qualified Career Change Advice can be a valuable aid to help put you back on the right career path.

Everyone has unique natural talents and abilities they were born with. If we are to be successful and happy in our lives, it is solely up to us to develop our innate talents, and use them within a career that precisely fits our defined purpose and mission. We need to fit our goals together ourselves, and discover our perfect working environment which suits our personalities and abilities the best.

To conclude, one must have a strong sense about what kind of person he is, and what his passions are as they relate to the real world of working. If he doesn’t know himself well, how will he know what types of occupations he would be interested in doing when the opportunity presents itself?

If someone knows himself well, this can lead him directly to his ideal career. If he doesn’t know himself well, the career opportunity of a lifetime may pass him by without him even noticing. One must be ever mindful that his own degree of self awareness is essential in guiding him to his true calling within the real world of working, regardless of his age and work experience.
