Are High Paying Careers in Construction for You?

One example of seasonal or part time work is in The Construction Industry. If you are a member of a Union, the Wages are high, but you may have to travel to other states to find work to stay busy working year around. This can make it hard on the Family Life, being on the road.

Expenses for Lodging, dues paid to a Sister Local Union, (For the privilege of working within their jurisdiction) and working dues paid to your Home Local, traveling and eating out while on the road, and other hidden misc. expenses, tear down that hourly wage considerably.

Often, those who do this type of work go to those jobs that are paid Overtime. The higher wages that come from working a lot of overtime hours will act to compensate one for the additional expenses incurred while traveling from job to job, and state to state, on the road.

The Divorce Rate is high for these types of Professions. And, you have to be the type of person who likes to travel far away from his home base, be around strangers, be by himself a lot, live in Motels or Hotels, and work a great deal of exhausting hours just to eat, sleep, and get up early to do it again the next day. This kind of lifestyle may or may not be for you.

Some Love this way of Working, while others do not fare very well at it. This is a great life for some, but definitely not for everyone.
