Take a Career Selection Test to
Discover compatible career choices

A Career Selection Test can alternatively be called a Career Assessment Test. The free online versions usually have fewer than twenty questions. The purpose of the short test is to help you sort out those careers that would match your personality and abilities best. These tests will inventory what things you habitually like doing, how you prefer to think, and which things you like to actively engage yourself in, on a daily basis.

When you take a career selection test, it is best to go with the first answer which comes to mind. Don’t over analyze the test questions. If you have trouble with one, pass it by, and come back to it later.

After the test is taken, you will usually receive a readable printout of careers that could be a good fit. Once you know your career match possibilities, you can then search for colleges or trade schools that offer the appropriate training and education.

Remember, that making the right career choice becomes easier, the better you know yourself.

The Job Selection Test may ask questions, such as…

• How objective are you when making decisions? In other words, do you allow others influence your decisions, or do you make them based solely upon the facts?

• Do you like working with your hands, or prefer to work with ideas?

• Do you like working with all the intricate details, or prefer to focus on the big picture?

• Do you prefer to organize things first, rather than take immediate action in the middle of a crisis?

• Are you a take charge type of person, or do you like to sit back and analyze the situation a bit before you act?

• Are you a good listener, or a better speaker?

• Do you like to sell things, or ideas?

• Do you like to put your words into writing?

• Do you like taking charge and directing qualified people to the right tasks?

Each test will inventory things about you as they relate to careers. The career selection test, may teach you things about your personality you didn’t know before, reconfirm things you already knew about you, pin point those job duties you prefer, point out which working environments you enjoy, and highlight how you like to interact with fellow workers.
