Using the Career Search Engines

Career Search Engines offer Thousands of Job Listings, complete with allowing Job Seekers to Post their own Job Resumes reaching the eyes of the World, on the Internet.

Some Services are Free to the Subscriber, some are not. To get the Premium Services, one has to register with these Search Websites.


You Search for Jobs by State, City, Locality, or by the Job Industry.

The Larger Career Search Engines allow Searching Thousands of Job Sites, and Businesses. They Link Directly to Thousands of Company Job Listing Web Pages, Nationwide and Categorize the Jobs Alphabetically by City and State.

Your Search may lead you to Employer Websites. Some of their Job Postings are not posted on any of the other Career Search Websites. You will only see the postings on their own Company Website. Many Large Companies list links on their own company Home Pages for their own Job Opportunities, and also Post Jobs on their own job Websites. Finding Employer's Websites on the Search Websites offers another opportunity for Employment. Most Companies have their own Utility Online, so that you can apply for a Job immediately.

When you are doing a Search for a Job...

Know what you are Searching for, and which Keywords are best to use

  • Are you looking for an Entry level Job?
  • Do you want a Part Time Job, or even a Seasonal Job?
  • Are you an Executive?
  • Do you want to be a Freelancer? These people often work at home typing or writing, etc.
  • Are you a Technical Worker?
  • Computers?
  • Programming?
  • Government Jobs?

There are Literally Thousands of career search engines you can do a Job Search from, right from your Home Computer.

If you do Job Search, and it leads you right to the Company itself, this is a good way to do a little Research, and get to know the Company before you write a Resume. If you go within their Website to look for the Jobs which fit your Skills and Abilities, they allow Search Options to find those positions open that would fit you. They also allow a Job Application and an upload of your Resume.


The More Sophisticated the Search Engine, the better access they give for Searching specifically by Salary, Location, and Position.

Not all Career Search Sites are created equal. So, some may take longer to do a Search than others. Some may not offer as sophisticated a Search, Either.

When you are doing a Career Search, keep in mind...

  • The Employer wants to know what you can do for him. It does not matter what degrees you have, or experience. What matters, is what is relevant to his Company and to the position you are applying for.
  • Do an Inventory on yourself. What Skills and Abilities do you have. Write them down.
  • Make sure you explore all your Career Options. Do not limit yourself.
  • There may be no Perfect Job. Most People change Careers more than a Few times in their Working Years.
  • Network, network, and network some more. Look at Bulletin Boards. Look for jobs in Newspapers. Contact Friends. Keep an open Mind to all Opportunities. Good Jobs can come from someone you know, who knows someone else.
