Career Research - The Vital Ingredient for finding the Right Career

Doing Career Research, will be worth all the time and effort you put into it.

This will assure you that you will avoid Slow Advancement and Low Earnings Potential jobs by knowing the Future Outlook of each Career Description you are interested in.

Some careers, you may reject because the schooling and training may take too many years to complete.

Nevertheless, be encouraged to continue on your Career Search.

This is because you are going through what's called the Process of Elimination. This is an integral part of Career Exploration. Career Change and career planning includes a career assessment test. The assessment test will show abilities you have to do the job.

In any profession, there will be some training required, guaranteed. It will be learned on the job, or in a school.

Decide how much training and schooling you are willing to complete, and know where you are going to complete it at. Decide also, how much you are willing to pay and how you are going to support yourself and your family while training.

Stay where you are, or Move on?

You may decide instead, that it's better to forget the new career idea, and get the training required for advancement within your present job.

Ask your self if your job is really all that bad, or not. All things (What you value) have to be weighed and prioritized to justify making a new career change. It has to make sense.

What things do you value most in a job? Money, and the things it can buy, personal influence with others, freedom of job movement, status and position in society, creativity and being artistic, or job security and its benefits? Do you want all the above? Only you can decide what's best for you.

Do you want to find a job that more closely resembles the person you are? Are you not a good match for the job you presently hold?

Would you rather keep the same routine, or take a chance and strike out for something completely new? You can take a Career Assessment Test and gather information about You to help decide. You may be surprised at what careers the test recommends.

Break Down Career Goals into smaller Pieces

Make it as easy as you can on yourself. Part of career research is making sure you can break your goals down into smaller steps. If you take easier steps, they can be achieved much sooner and with less effort on your part. It will make you feel better, because you will see that you are getting somewhere, sooner.

Could you spend time on your weekends working online to complete your degree, or at weekend classes at your local community college?

Write down all the particulars, like how much it will cost? How long will it take? Write down all the steps you are going to take to achieve your dream job.

Put dates next to things you accomplish. Cross off the items on the list as you go, so you feel a sense that you are achieving what you set out to do.

The more methodical and organized you are in your job pursuit, the better chance you have of achieving and attaining your goals. Break the job puzzle down into smaller, achievable pieces.

Be persistent, and assure yourself that you can do these things. If you run into a few snags, be flexible enough to compromise somewhat if you have to.
