Setting Career Goals

Career Goals are a statement of your Intent, Mission and Purpose, Directly Related to Career Objectives, and implemented through Career Planning.

A Career Test is part of successful Planning for your Teen or Midlife Career.

The plan is a general outline, story, template, and career guide for achieving your career aim.

This process sets the Direction of your Career Path through setting personal goals, and is supplemented by career change advice from a qualified counselor.

If you assess your skills, interests, values and abilities through a career assessment test, you can match these to the right careers that fit your personality and temperament.

You can set short term and long term goals to achieve your career objectives. For example, a short term goal of could be that you need training for advancement to a higher position, or for just keeping your current credentials up to date.

A longer term goal would be if you wanted to be a supervisor. You would then set the goal of being a supervisor within a specific period of time, and then plan for any training or education that would be required for the position. The training and education would also be goals you would write down.

Some Suggested Job goals could be -

  • To get a pay raise every year
  • Get a promotion
  • Find a job in another State
  • Get a college degree

If you don't have a career, or want Change Careers, think about those occupations you might like to do. Do the research for each one you are interested in to find out its job duties.
