An Aptitude Test will assess your skills (talents or an innate gift you were born with) and aptitudes. Your aptitudes can be physical abilities and/or mental.
Example- Knowledge attained through a specialized course of study.
Your aptitude can also be something you were born with knowing, or even a skill you have learned through doing something you do for a living, like building cabinetry.
Aptitude usually relates to one being able to do some kind of work with a certain level, or degree of competency. Usually, if you can do something, most of the time, it can be said you also have an aptitude for doing it.
Achievement differs from aptitude, in that achievement is a description about what one has accomplished in his life. For example, owning a large house can be an achievement. Also, completing a Master's Degree Program can be considered another equal, or even greater achievement.
There are Achievement Tests which will reveal your skills and knowledge that you have developed through time. Aptitude is composed of one's skills and abilities, and belongs as part of ones general intelligence. Career Aptitude Tests will inventory your job related capabilities.
Free Tests for Work related Aptitude
Free Aptitude Tests, or career tests can reveal a great deal about yourself in relation to whether you are qualified for a particular job, or not. Personality plays as important a role in whether you fit in a career, as aptitude does. Your Personality is joined inseparably to your working aptitude. This is because there are jobs you will fit into because of your temperament style, and those you will not. Simply put, you will certainly know if a job just isn't your style; because you will or won’t feel right, being in that field.
The type of Career Testing you want to take, is one which assesses you through asking a series of questions about things you prefer doing while working within your favorite job. For example, if you have an analytical type mind, you would favor research, mathematics, or possibly science. Additionally, if you had a predominantly extroverted, outgoing, gregarious type of personality, you might prefer leading a large group of people, and also speaking in front of an audience.
Your Personality will dictate what Work "Fits" your style best
As you can see, certain personalities will do better in certain occupations and not good in others, because different jobs demand different personality make-ups. Everyone's style is different; that is why there are so many diverse occupations.
Many employers nowadays are using tests for aptitude for their own employment testing. This is because the employer wants to evaluate a job applicant’s aptitude for the open position, but with his own choice of aptitude tests. The employer tests are designed to evaluate a person's suitability for doing particular tasks related to the job position which is open. It may be a good idea to practice a few free employment aptitude tests online, before your upcoming job interview.
The SAT
Now, if you happen to be contemplating going to college, there is the SAT test. In High School I took the SAT® test, which is another test which will show you if you have an aptitude for college.
Some testing circles believe the SAT test to be similar to aptitude, or IQ testing. Others believe aptitude tests resemble IQ Tests, and vice versa. Regardless, the SAT test purpose is to test your aptitude for further, advanced academic studies beyond High School. There is an SAT prep course you can take to ready yourself for the complete SAT. It will advise you of your strengths and weaknesses, so you can focus on areas that need the most improvement and study, before taking the complete four+ hour test.
